How do I become a member of Local 857?
To become a member, you must work in the jurisdiction of the Local for at least thirty days, and submit an application for membership along with the appropriate initiation and processing fees.

What is the IATSE and Local 857?
IATSE stands for International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, Moving Picture Technicians, Artists and Allied Crafts of the United States and Canada. We are the largest entertainment union, established 1893. Local 857 was chartered under the banner of IATSE on June 1, 1955. Our history can be traced from the reserved seat Hollywood Movie Palaces of the ’50’s to the grandeur of the Music Center Complex in the ’60’s and onward through the ’70’s and ’80’s with the birth of the Shubert Theatre, rock show venues such as the Greek and Universal Amphitheater to the ambitious downtown ‘multiplex’ theatre venue known as the Los Angeles Theatre Center. Our professional expertise has been utilized selling a roster of movies, plays and stage musicals that went on to create entertainment history.
